Edith Kane and Mrs. J. Doug. Robinson (LOC)

  • pennylrichardsca (now at ipernity) said:
Mr. and Mrs. J. Douglas Robinson were received by the Japanese emperor when they visited Tokyo in 1910, according to reports in the New York Times and elsewhere. Edith Kane may be the daughter of Tuxedo Club founder Grenville Kane (he had a daughter Edith born in 1884, married in 1911, so she'd be in the news during the right window of time).
  • Cynthia Wenslow said:
Edith Kane was soon to become the wife of George Fisher Baker Jr.
  • Harry Angstrom said:

This photograph was probably taken at the Meadow Brook Field on June 14, 1913 on the occassion of the Newport Cup polo match between America and England. See comparison photograph of this high society event, including similar grandstand dressed with diagonal Stars and Stripes Flag in the background here: www.flickr.com/photos/library_of_congress/3597340687/

Thanks to all for your comments! lifeasdaddy: It does appear quite likely these ladies are at the polo match in question. We will add to the record when we update. Good eye!
