Typo in title and text: Sheppard s/b Shepard

Mr. & Mrs. Shepard are attending a polo match at Meadow Brook Field. The Newport Cup, effectively the polo championship of the world, was played there on June 14, 1913. America defeated England. From the New York Times of the following day: " Mr. and Mrs. Finley J. Shepard (Miss Helen Gould) also paid their first visit to Meadow Brook. After they had run the gauntlet of cameras, they sat with Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gould in a grandstand box. Mrs. Shepard wore a blue poplin dress topped with a blush straw hat which had a single red rose." There were many other society types there whom were fully described in the article: query.nytimes.com/mem/archive-free/pdf?_r=1&res=9D05E... I believe that the listing of society attendees will help to match up with other photographs taken on the same day.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Douglas Robinson were received by the Japanese emperor when they visited Tokyo in 1910, according to reports in the New York Times and elsewhere. Edith Kane may be the daughter of Tuxedo Club founder Grenville Kane (he had a daughter Edith born in 1884, married in 1911, so she'd be in the news during the right window of time).

Edith Kane was soon to become the wife of George Fisher Baker Jr.
