    David Bromage Thanks for your comment and links - That makes things very confusing. The Wyrallah built by Morts and Dockyard in 1887 sunk in 1924. Have a look at the image of the Wyrallah in this newspaper article from April 1924 reporting the sinking of the Wyrallah. It does look quite similar to the steamer in our image.     I live nearby, Wyrallah is a locality on the Richomond River, near Lismore. I know that doesn't help with identification of the ship though. :)

    Isn't it a remarkable photograph? Privilege, position, power, personality, perfectly posed, peerlessly photographed, posterity perpetuated! (that was a struggle!!!) It is a really interesting photograph of a different era and a remarkable family. The family resemblances are distinctive, the elegance is definitive but the groom looks less than enthusiastic. Quite a lot of leg on display for that era, rather risque?
