In 2nd May 1904 King Edward visited Waterford. He travelled from Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin via Kilkenny, arriving at Waterford North Station at 12:50 p.m. The station was decorated in crimson and a salute was fired by the HMS Aeolus, which was stationed in the river along three other ships. The King was entertained by the mayor James A. Power at a reception in City Hall. The Royal party then visited the Waterford Show. The Royal party proceeded to the Waterford South Station to take the 16:05p.m train to Lismore. Before departing the King knighted the Mayor on the platform. The King then took the train to Lismore where he was greeted by the Duke of Devonshire and other dignitaries.

Isn't it a remarkable photograph? Privilege, position, power, personality, perfectly posed, peerlessly photographed, posterity perpetuated! (that was a struggle!!!) It is a really interesting photograph of a different era and a remarkable family. The family resemblances are distinctive, the elegance is definitive but the groom looks less than enthusiastic. Quite a lot of leg on display for that era, rather risque?

It was the jazz age, and a glimpse of stocking was no longer shocking...evidently even in Waterford, at least among the swells.

Couldn't find Lady Louisa on Wikipedia. Her father's and her husband's pages mention her as Lady Louisa Caroline. From this page I gather there was a part of the Munster Blackwater, that her father was responsible for (see entry under: Lismore Weir 1898). Jan Hilbrand Brink.

Really fishy is right. Some really bad scraping and scratching. You're probably right about it being the Blackwater. There's another Poole where Lismore Castle is in the background. 8th was Duke from 1891-1908. 9th from March 1908-1936 10th from 1938-1950. 11th from 1950-2004

I think the gent with the rod and beard is Spencer Compton Cavendish, the 8th Duke, so 1901-1908. Early use of photoshop to add a fish that was "this big".
