Renira1 Thank you for the information and the links! What you suggest seems quite likely, since Berit Wallenberg took other photographs in High Street close to Magdalen College. Very interesting to read about the Choir and its old history!

The wikipedia article says that the memorial was built in 1911, so this would be between 1911 and 1915 rather than 1910 and 1915.

Also - I realise obviously it is a black and white picture, but it doesn't appear that the gilting had been done at the time the picture was taken - I would have expected there to be a glossier shine even in the BnW, but it appears to look exactly the same as the statue beneath.
