When we reached the bathing-house our mission was made known to Mr. M'Gill, who was busily engaged in cutting the leaves of the laurel and honey-suckle on a large ornamental stone, for the crown of the "monument" -- which, from where we now stood, appeared to be at a great height, and firmly built upon a rock. In fact, the rock which composed the side of the hill from the road to the water had been hewn and blasted into terraces, and putting aside the ingenuity of the design, it was evident that a very large amount of capital had been expended in completing the work. This beautiful monument, built entirely of Pyrmont stone, from Reid's quarry, when completed, in a month or two more, will be an exact copy of the original ... ... etc
