    Brilliant shot, rule the world with loaves and guns. Is that a sprinkling of snow on the ground? Note the sign "Machine made bread"? The exact opposite to todays boast of hand made everything!

    War is tragic :( My father drove a bread bike in Arnhem during WW2 , he was a baker for 50 years , he didn't speak often of the war except D day xoxo I miss him so much , thank you for sharing this poignantly telling photograph xoxo

    I think the man in the top hat is Rhinelander Waldo, then NYC's Police Commissioner: www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/Rhinelander_Waldo And that's "Paymaster" Charles Conard -- many Google hits for him, but I didn't find anything biographical.
