This seems to be a very famous picture; there aren't any reproductions of it. However, this picture was most likely taken from an observation roof, possibly the one atop one wing of the Immigration Station, Ellis Island. I really like this picture because it shows how different the NYC skyline used to be. It shows how NYC was during industrialization and how far we've come in terms of expanding.

From the trail of foam in the water leading from the word "skyline" towards the upper left I'd have to say it was taken from the stern of a moving boat on the Hudson River. Can anyone name the buildings?

Attitudes towards smoking among women had begun to change as well.
