  Frank appears to be wearing a pair of goggles pushed up on his forehead, no doubt for eye protection from flying splinters and saw dust. The saw is by Thomas Robinson & Son, established in Rochdale, Lancashire, in 1838 as timber merchants, joiners and carpenters. Thomas Robinson & Son became a private limited company in 1880, changing the name to Thomas Robinson & Son Limited. The firm became a respected maker of gas engines, saw mills, woodworking machinery, flour milling machinery, and railway locomotives & carriages.
