Oct. 25, 1917 to Jan ... books.google.com/books?id=DYxDAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA16-IA2 Caption with photo is "German crew and submarine which surrendered to the U.S.S. Fanning. This is the first capture at sea of Germans by American Forces. An event which will go down in history."
