Looking down Prince's Street. This O'Connell St. shot from the 20s shows signs pointing down this street to the Capitol:

Per Wikipedia: began life on 10 August 1920 as the La Scala Theatre and Opera House. Despite its name, the La Scala was a cinema. Paramount Pictures took over the lease on the building and renamed it the Capitol. Under new management, the Capitol ran a live show every week to accompany the current film ... The last stage show was on 29 October 1953. The Capitol continued as a cinema until 1972.

On the 25" OSI Map the lower reservoir is already there, but the upper is "in construction. (You have to zoom right in to see them, though.)

Wikipedia article on the Vartry reservoirs. The lower one was completed between 1863-68, the upper in 1923. The engineer was Parke Neville, the Dublin City and Waterworks Engineer. Plus a 1906 Postcard of the Vartry Reservoir in Stillorgan that this fed into.

I'd guess from the shadows that it's looking more or less north but I don't see the sugarloaf.

derangedlemur I tried wandering around the reservoir on streetview, but eventually gave up. That said, this doesn't look too far off. The Sugarloaf is off to the right left.
