The papers on the 25th July 1922 report a stand at Bruff by "Irregulars". The siege of the barracks and fighting seem to have occurred on he previous Thursday and Friday (20th & 21st July). Freeman's Journal reported that the first hint the National garrison had of an impending siege was when an Irregular Red Cross hospital was set up a few miles outside the town.

See note on Photo. If it is oats or wheat we are in the wintertime as no leaves on trees. Normally it would be thrashed in the Autumn if it was for winter feed ?
