[Princess (i.e. Princes) Street and castle from Scott's Monument, Edinburgh, Scotland] (LOC)

  • Glyn Nelson said:
It's Princes Street, not princess (ie male, not female). Nice collection mind.
  • The Pete said:
Wow--my wife and I got our wedding rings in a shop that would have been on the right side of this photo--though it *probably* wasn't there when the photo was taken ;) Also, in other photos it actually is described as (and spelled) "Princess Street." Perhaps it used to be called that?
  • Andrew Hogg said:
No, it was named after two Princes.
  • The Library of Congress said:
Thanks for the road repair tip! Added the main spelling to the title.

Custom House Square, Dunedin, between 1923-1928

It's a pity many of the surrounding buildings have gone, Cargill's monument is still there though. The area is now called "The Exchange" as it was once the site of Dunedin's stock Exchange.
