From wikimedia - commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Winterhude_(ship,_1898) "Winterhude was an Steel three-masted ship built in 1898 by Rickmers Reismühlen, Rhederei und Schiffbau AG, Bremen for their own account as fullrigged ship Mabel Rickmers. Dimensions: 81,44×12,20×7,54 meters and tonnage: 2065 GRT, 1985 NRT, and 3060 DWT. 1912 sold to Schlüter & Maack, Hamburg and renamed Winterhude. At the same time re-rigged as a barque. Then followed a checkered history of owners. Broken up 1949" More details at sailing-ships.oktett.net/86.html including "1932 - She lost her main royal mast, and thus became `bald-headed' having lost both her royals." [no idea what that means!]

beachcomber australia The royalmasts are the fourth sections of mast up from the bottom and the sails on these are the royals. I'm surprised they didn't replace them again though, since its not terribly difficult to do so.
