This is such a nostalgic photo and conjures up a time of innocence and fun.

Look at those Colorado ski slopes! This photograph is so beautiful because of all the color. Even though it was a cloudy day and it looks like it's about to rain, the photographer managed to capture such a great photograph.

When a kid I ran away from home because of my wicked stepmom and was given sanctuary with a carnival sideshow. I traveled with them all summer and they were the best family I ever had. However, the carny boss put pressure on me to contact my Dad about a week before school started. Dad was told the skivvy and life was way better once I got home. I cried because I did not want to go home. That is how great these folks were. It was probably, the best summer of my life.

It looks like somewhere in Germany or maybe Switzerland

Tough one. It could be more or less anywhere in central Europe. I reckon the thing to do is wait for Sharon and see if she recognises it. It looks vaguely like various bits of Germany I've been in, but being bombed flat and rebuilt can make that a tricky match. Got to guess something, though, so I'll go with Bad Herrenalb.

Offhand, it doesn't look familiar (or very familiar in a generic way.)

On the superzoom I see that there seems to be a sign on one of the buildings - I've tagged it above. I *think* the text is reversed and I *think* one of the words is PENSIONE, but I am very far from certain. Perhaps we're somewhere in Switzerland? That'd explain the mix of German-looking buildings and (possibly) Italian text. Or maybe somewhere in the extreme north of Italy where things can look a bit German? Or perhaps I'm mis-reading the sign.
