trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/263708881/29487355 - this pic appeared in the Town & Country Journal on 6th October, 1909...accompanying an historical article on Millers Point and The Rocks by Mary Salmon...this is the earliest publication that I've managed to find... It's interesting to note here how the T&CJ has whited out the Wentworth Hotel's name...I gather the T&CJ didn't want to hand out unpaid advertising...I've noticed that the Sydney Mail did this as well...though in both cases, the 'no unpaid advertising' policy can't have been rigorously applied...there are many many photos where the advertising isn't whited out....
