I was a copy clerk at the Trib back in the mid 80's. They would keep 50 copies of each days paper for 18 months and by that time the whole paper was then on microfiche.

I believe the spot where the photographer is standing would be underground now, as they've built three layers of elevated street above this. This would be someplace near the loading dock for the 205-225 N. Michigan complex.
