Good to see a time when people were smart enough not to need all the safety equipment we need these days.

Exactly the same ride, but red and blue, remained well into the 1970'ies at the Swedish amusement park Liseberg in Gothenburg. It was called "Swingoplan". I was born in 1965 and I rode it around 1973 I think. I remember the "safety belt", just an inch-wide leather belt around my waist. The inside was clad with well worn vinyl and leather padding. It was a great ride.

In the U.S.A. the ride was actually called The Bullet. That was before it became ... incorrect .... to call it as such. When I was a kid in the '60's this was a mainstay on the midway of the (rather large) Mahoning County Fair (Ohio). This ride can still be found at many county fairs.
