Any idea where this was taken? I know this is a bit of work but it may be worth adding each picture to your map. It means people could check the NLI flickr page and see any photos taken in their area! This is more then likely John Adair's City Bakery at 18 Lady Lane, Waterford. He's listed in P.M. Egan's 1894 directory.
I think the bakery occupied the site of the Library on the corner of Lady Lane & Bakehouse Lane.
The foundation stone of the library was laid in 1903.

Yes Emma, my grandmother(s) and greatgrandmother. (First photo I have ever seen of my mum's mother and stepmother(auntie) together.

I'm finding this very exciting! However Wendy mentioned no one knew where Bertha's grave is, so next weekend I am planning a trip to Jandowae, and possibly Bell to try and locate it.

I had the feeling that she passed away at Jandowae so more than likely (hope you have some luck). We did not know very much about her as Olivia was our "grandma" all our lives.

It is exciting isn't it Emma - I will try to find the birth, marriages and deaths certificates which I have somewhere (from Wendy) and see if we can narrow down where the cemetery is.

They were having a bit of fun. Hope their lives went well.

The "Technical Group" at the Ursuline Convent were a noisy lot, having their portraits taken on the lawn outside . The photographer welcomed them and said, "Please stand still ladies." One lady who was a little deaf, asked her friend, "What did he say?" "He would like us to stand still." replied the friend. Then the photographer asked, "Can you please stand closer so I can focus the camera?" "What did he say?" asked the first. "He's going to focus." replied her friend. "What, all of us?" Hence the giggles! The joke must be at least as old as this photo.
