    rjones0856: Good eye! The statue of Hale was originally placed at the intersection of Broadway & Murray Street in the 1890's, but was moved to the lawn facing City Hall's entrance in 1999. Wystan: Thanks for the heads up on the date!

    If this was taken on September 6, 1913, it shows Mayor Gaynor's shipboard embarkation for a voyage to Europe. He died just six days later, while seated comfortably in a deck chair during the Atlantic crossing. Wikipedia on Mayor Gaynor: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Jay_Gaynor
