    I don't see either Taft or Wilson here. Possibly this was a gathering from inauguration day when Wilson was taking over the Presidency from Taft, 4 March 1913? Center front looks like William Jennings Bryan.

    Presumably this photo dates from 1913, as do all the others in this photostream sequence of the Bain/LOC negatives. Andrew Carnegie and William Jennings Bryan had been friends since Bryan's presidential campaign of 1896, when Carnegie supported his candidacy. In 1913, Bryan was the newly-appointed Secretary of State in Woodrow Wilson's cabinet. This photo may document a meeting of the board of directors of Carnegie's pet project of the time, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. If so, many of the less familiar faces there are politicians of high rank, university presidents, etc. Definitely NOT "Taft and Wilson".
