The post on the left was put in by the "Mark Foys" as part of a private swimming pool, but the authorities stopped them from going ahead. Source: my 93 year old Mum ( she lived a block behind the beach in the '30s and '40s.)

I'd say it was "Gap Park" where Old South Head Road turns west and starts to descend to Watsons Bay.
