  In 1924 her father bought her the Davidoff-Morini Stradivarius for $10,000. When she died in 1995, the violin was missing, and is still missing. This may be why she was photographed.   This walking-stick violin was a new toy for Heifetz, a souvenir. Popular Science Oct 1925, page 45 (lower left) books.google.com/books?id=0CcDAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA45&lp... has a photo of Heifetz with his "violin-cane." In French, the term "canne violon" is used. Apparently he had picked it up on his recent trip to Europe for $400.
