Pretty sure that's early movie cowboy Tom Mix? Even the hat looks like his ++style 10 gallon hat.

Thanks drombit007! I believe you're right. We'll add his name to the title. I tried searching some newspaper databases to see when his visit was, but the best I found so far is two articles from August and September of 1921 that say he recently visited the White House.

One of the all time greats! I just mentioned him in a comment recently and can't think where??? It's part of the "getting-old-heimers" I suffer from.

Interesting - although I can't find reference to a Tom Mix visit to Dublin in The Irish Times, from 1920-1929. Although there are references to his visting England twice, in 1925 and 1929. Is there any more detail about the photo?

vandillo Hmm! Have been investigating. Found the refs to England in 1925 and 1929. Checked a load of newspapers, and did find one reference to a proposed visit to Dublin, but that was late 1930s. Will keep searching. However, metadata on these W.D. Hogan photos is usually pretty reliable...

Amazing to think this was the same year the Civil War ended!
