Sun Valley Motel sign, Alameda Street, Route 90, El Paso, Texas (LOC)

That's an amusing misspelling of bienvenidos on the sign. I looked for this place on Google street view to see if the sign might still be there. The motel is still there. But this sign is gone. FYI, the motel is at 7229 Alameda Avenue rather than Alameda Street. Also, the highway route number is currently designated as 20, not 90.

Thanks for pointing out interesting details and the correct address. We'll adjust information at our end.

Christie's Restaurant sign, cowboy shrimp, Houston, Texas (LOC)

This may not be Christie's -- it may actually be Gaido's, a different Houston seafood restaurant. See the thread here:

As I recall, the sign was posted on Galveston Island in front of Gaido's Restaurant in the early sixties. My father and I cruised the seawall in the family Ford Falcon station wagon looking for green water in order to catch speckled trout on hook and line at dawn. We used live shrimp for bait on treble hooks. Eventually the salt-water slosh from the bait bucket rusted through the floorboard of the car.
