Thanks Wystan for the links to the articles, and for determining the date, which will add some certainty to the image. We'll add that to the record the next time we update it. I'm still not sure what we are looking at in this image: a freight car built to hold and transport the stone?

No, that appears to be a gigantic stoneboat, perched on rollers, with a massive framework surrounding the stone, probably to prevent accidental breakage or chipping while in transit. The stories suggest that it was Rockefeller's plan to move the stone in one piece, and to have it carved into an ornamental fountain on the site. The words "George Brown & Co., N. Y.," have been painted on the sides of the wooden cribbing that surrounds and protects the stone.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Gould Helen Gould was the daughter of railroad "robber baron" Jay Gould. He died in 1892 and his house passed down to his daughter(s) (sister Anna donated it to the Natl Trust). The Gould home had a name, Lyndhurst. Here is an article about Lyndhurst, including its association with Dark Shadows: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyndhurst_(house) Here is the Lyndurst website: www.lyndhurst.org/ Here is its location on Google Maps: maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=lyn...
