Chullora Railway Canteen - dining room

Not a lot of room when everybody comes. I'd hate to be the cleaner too! none of the chairs stack on top of each other. It's so funny that the staff were brought in as photo props.

Highranger Have you noticed the sign hanging from the ceiling, top right. "No. 1 Group" so I assume there is a No 2 and maybe No 3 ?.
  • Highranger said:
dunedoo Maybe the group allocation allowed the staff to clear the tables? I did notice that...reminds me of boarding school ;-(

1/4 in today's prices is (according to the RBA Pre-Decimal Inflation Calculator) $4.23. Can somebody tell me where I can get a two course lunch and a mug of tea for that in Sydney these days?

beachcomber australia (Re your note): but the tree was removed in 1936!
Either the fig tree recovered from being sawn off at the base - or this aerial photo is much earlier than c.1947 ...

Or, is it a different tree?
  • pellethepoet said:
I totally forgot about this 1954 image, about which we were surprised the tree was still there:

Does State Records have a similar aerial photograph of the Eveleigh Railway Workshop Area ?

Was this photogrpahy part of a series ?

my happy snapper As search using the word "aerial" results in Photo Investigator brings up these results
    investigator.records.nsw.gov.au/asp/photosearch/search.as...
However unfortunately there are none specifically of Eveleigh here.
