  Now that's how to do a podium presentation. Pints of lager all round from Miss Icegold Lager! It looks like (l-r) Phil Bayton, Keith Lambert and I'm not sure of the Raleigh rider. Keith Lambert is wearing the British road race champion's jersey, so it would be 1974. He won the title in 1980 too, but with a different team.

  In a film now being shown there is a picture entitled "What the Stay-at-homes are Doing." The first part shows the quaint Norwegian wheel going, while Australia's golden fleece is being spun for our soldiers socks. Miss Bennett sat for this picture lesson on spinning. In the second part the two school girls who are spinning are from the Bondi S.P. School, selected by the Under Secretary for the first spinning class held in a school in Australia. Right royally teachers and senior girls took advantage, learning to spin and buying their own wheel. Then there is a knitter who sits calmly at work on her sock. When the war started very few girls in Australia could knit socks. She, like other noble workers gave up many interests in order to organise classes and teach girls to knit. The knitter is Miss McPherson, slster of the late Major McPherson, who fell in the gallant charge of the 18th Battalion. ...
