A Newport socialite named Miss Edith Mortimer married Count Mario di Zoppola, an Itaiian aviator, in 1919, at her parents' country home in Wheatley Hills. Her mother was Eleanor Roosevelt's aunt. The Count and Countess di Zoppola divorced at Reno in 1929. In 1937, Cole Porter was badly injured while riding at Edith di Zoppola's Oyster Bay estate. Miss Mortimer seems to be enjoying "chair skating"? A G. MacCulloch Miller was mentioned winning a "toboggan challenge plate" in a winter sports event at Tuxedo Park in 1913. (George MacCulloch Miller had a daughter Edith too, but she announced her engagement in 1902.)

Looks like a better way to "skate," with less risk of falling. LOC: Spelling error: MacCulloch has an "a" in it.

This may be Mrs. Arthur Carroll, [note spelling] 64 East Seventy-seventh Street, New York City.

Mrs. Annie Livingston Best, daughter of Mrs. Clermont Livingston Best, married Arthur Carroll, the elder son of General Howard Carroll and Mrs. Carroll of Carrollcliffe, Tarrytown, in September, 1910 in New York City. Arthur Carroll was a 1904 graduate of Columbia University.

Annie Livingston Best had previously married Elizur Yale Smith in November, 1907, however they divorced the following June and she resumed using her maiden name. Elizur Yale Smith spent some time in jail in Kingston, NY, in 1911, after defrauding hotels with bad checks.

Adolf Lewisohn was a New York investment broker and philanthropist who died in 1938. He was a large contributor to Columbia University among many other New York City beneficiaries.

We have to be careful there are two brothers: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Lewisohn en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolph_Lewisohn I looked through the marriage records for Manhattan and added the spouses to their Wikipedia articles: Adolph married Emma Cohn on June 26, 1878 in Manhattan Leonard married Rosalie Jacobs (1847-1900) on June 29, 1870 in Manhattan Looks like I found one spouse dead in the year 1900, that explains why she wasn't mentioned in the obit. The woman doesn't look 60 years old so this may be the wife of one of the sons.

Mrs Adolph Lewisohn (the former Emma Cahn) died in 1916, "in her sixtieth year." See NYT on July 29, 1916 query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9407E2D7173BE633A... The obituary mentions two sons: Sam A and Julius A and grandchildren. So this could be one of their wives.NYT searching finds that Mrs Samuel Lewisohn was very much a socialite, active in charities, and left art to museums. I also find mention of a Dr. and Mrs. Richard Lewison and a Mrs. Philip Lewisohn. So there are lots of possibilities.

According to NYT, November 18, 1917 query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=940CE3DA113AE433A... She was the daughter of Randolph Guggenheimer. NYT, May 6, 1897 query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9B06E5DB143DE633A... reveals that her name was Adele, but I have been unable to find any pictures of her.
