    @Kristina Lu That form of salute of the Romanian scouts was from before Hitler and slightly different than the Nazi salute. It was just an unfortunate coincidence that they were similar which did not appear until the end of the Nazi era when people sort of interpreted them as the same or close

    @Kristina Lu What I've meant was that the salute originated in Roman times, more than 2000 years ago and like the swastika ( a religious Indian symbol, very innocent ) were dragged into mud by Hitler and his acolytes in the most insane of times. The youth organization in the photo was actually disbanded in 1940 - it lasted only 5 years being the shortest scouts organization in history for the very reason that it was believed it was tainted by Nazi ideas and used for brainwashing children; not with Nazi ideas but rather with extreme Romanian nationalism - a rather unsavory 'sport' for any nation. It never brings anything good or any respect from outside but quite the opposite. To be noted: these are the children of the photographer actually :)
