From Wiki Jules Henri Poincaré (29 April 1854 – 17 July 1912) (French pronunciation: [ˈʒyl ɑ̃ˈʁi pwɛ̃kaˈʁe][1]) was a French mathematician, theoretical physicist, and a philosopher of science. Poincaré is often described as a polymath, and in mathematics as The Last Universalist, since he excelled in all fields of the discipline as it existed during his lifetime.

That's nice, but it was established last week, in comments on an identical copy of this image (posted with last week's batch of LOC photos) that this is not Henri, but Raymond Poincare (1860-1934), the President of France, being welcomed on a visit to Spain by King Alfonso XIII. Alfonso had been Poincare's guest in Paris, several months earlier.
