Annie Zemitat on the front steps of her house at Zillmere

I had to go check it out on Google maps to see what that street looks like today. Wish I knew which corner it was that the house stood on. See what the street looks like.
  • Janelle Gardiner said:
The house was to the right of Grasspan Street
  • State Library of Queensland said:
Thanks Janelle. That would be 68 Handford Road. Judging from Google Maps the house may still be there, although bricked in underneath. It now has some bushy trees in front so it is hard to tell for sure.

View of the residence, 'Cordelia Vale' near Ingham

  • mawarre said:
If you consider the number of times Ingham has flooded it is easy to understand this type of architecture and how high the stumps were. Saves evacuating!
  • tanetahi said:
And the wide wrap-around verandah is an adaptation to Ingham's appalling summer humidity and heat.

Devoy residence in Ashgrove

  • mawarre said:
This is reminiscent of my family home in Toowoomba - or rather the core of my family home, which was added to over the years to acommmodate a larger family.
  • Peter Eedy said:
This Devoy house has survived (albeit modified) It was relocated to a nearby location - now in Findlay Street off Ashgrove Crescent
