Several Bain/LOC photos of New York City Mayor John Purroy Mitchel and U. S. President Woodrow Wilson at the Vera Cruz funeral service were posted to Flickr two months ago:

Wystan, Thanks for your efforts with the numerous photographs which document the National Memorial Service of May 11, 1914. We will be able to better link the related images and expand the descriptions, including the addition of a date where one is not yet included. We will add Mr. Tumulty to this description as well. He is identified as Wilson's secretary in this photograph from one of our other collections.

Great timing on the photographer's part. Imagine the guys walking beside the car would have blocked the view of Wilson, and this was only a small window of time to get the shot.

It's not mentioned in the data provided here on or on the LOC site, but I believe this is Hoboken NJ - in front of City Hall on Washington St between Newark and 1st. Compare this photo from the Hoboken Historical Museum hoboken.pastperfectonline.com/archive/B2867763-2658-4483-... Also, the Serventi's (see sign at far left) owned the famous Hoboken "Clam Broth House" restaurant and other spots in town. The buildings in this picture on the corner of 1st would be torn down and replaced with an imposing bank within a few years - it's now a Walgreens.

This was after his return from the peace conference in Paris following WWI. New-York Tribune., July 13, 1919, page 45 chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83030214/1919-07-13/ed-... has pictures of his return from Paris on the USS George Washington to dock at Hoboken.

The photo was taken at the Shadow Lawn estate in New Jersey, which served as Wilson's summer White House. The house burned down in 1927. A photo from the event is seen here: The Washington times.
