What is she doing in this picture? It looks like she is actually sitting on a step. She has a rag in her right hand, almost suggesting she was cleaning off the step. That doesn't seem likely.

The right-hand column describes the plans. The President and his wife would drive from Hoboken to New Tork City, where the celebrations would be on Fifth Avenue and at Carnegie Hall.
