    I always imagined myself strolling with an elegant greyhound or afghan hound wearing something very stylish. Instead I have a beagle whom I walk wearing jeans and hair in braids. Fantastic photo!!

    Or maybe Mesopotamia? Allied troops, but the gun on the limber looks rather like a German 10 cm field gun with a Krupps breech... but don't trust me on this one, I'm far from sure, there's bound to be someone around who will tie it down for certain, Carol.

    I'd guess Boer War? Could be something to do with Robert Baden Powell, the founder of the Scout Movement....? Looks like that type of uniform, but I am not an expert at all in Militaria!

    I'd be inclined to agree this smells more Boer War than WW1! The gun could be a Krupps, I thought at first a captured Boer Creusot but the carriage looks unlikely for that.

    I may have to eat my words! This looks a lot more like a Creusot Long Tom than British field piece! The carriage is similar also which would make it a captured Boer field piece.     There doesn't appear to have been much in Tycor (or Ticor as it was spelt on the OSI maps back then) when this photo was taken. The nearest big house would probably have been the Manor of St. John in Lisduggan. This is Tycor on the 25" OSI map maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V1,658965,611881,6,9

    There does not appear to have been any Powers living in Tycor around this time, I wonder if this was taken at Mrs Powers parents house, if so it might possibly have been at the home of Walter and Ellen Hearne. Walter was a caretaker at the waterworks in Tycor and was 72 in 1911.
