The girl in the white dress is Elizabeth (Bessie) Watson, later Somerville, who was the youngest female piper of her age. The photo is probably taken in London in 1911 when she was aged 11. She had appeared at the Edinburgh march in 1909 in the white dress, wearing an apron over it saying "Votes for Women" and decorated in the green and purple stripes of the WPSU.
