Gen Abram Duryea [sic]

Kent Duryee said:
Hi there. My name is Kent Duryée and Abram was my great-great-grandfather. There is a {sic} after his last name above, meaning the "Duryea" spelling is correct. This is not the case. I have inherited many, many documents that belonged to him, and on every one that's signed, his last name is spelled "Duryée", with the accent over the first "e". In all historical records that I've come across, the spelling is the same. I have family records dating back to 1675 when my 7th great-grandfather came to North America, and the name, at least on the branch of the family that I've sprung from, which includes Abram, is spelled Duryée. I also have an image of his signature on my website page devoted to him, and it shows the two e's and the accent very clearly: duryee.net/abram-duryee-biography Thank you! 😎
