NY Times article Jan 12, 1912, identifies the official call for the Democratic National Convention to be held at Baltimore, the call was issued by Norman E. Mack Chairman of the party and Urey Woodson Secretary of the Democratic National Committee. Urey Woodson was from Kentucky, where he ran a newspaper, the Owensboro Messenger. Norman E. Mack was from Buffalo and a long time Democratic party official. Robert Crain appears to be a Democrat from Baltimore.

Democratic Party pols visiting Governor Woodrow Wilson of New Jersey, at the New Jersey resort town of Sea Girt, at the time of Wilson's nomination as the Democratic candidate for President of the U. S., in the election of 1912. In the tradition of that era, Wilson did not attend the Convention (which was held in Baltimore), but waited coyly at New Jersey's "Little White House" -- the summertime governor's mansion -- for delegations from the convention to "notify" him of the nomination.
