Bass's request in 1914 to use a 125 horsepower Anzani 10 radial engine (mistakenly described as a "Lingazani" engine in the New York Times story cited below), instead of the standard Curtiss OX-5 engine. Mr. Bass declined to say whether he intended to compete for the Daily Mail prize."
