This appears to be of a later design, but might be related to Curtiss Flying Boat NC-4 www.aviation-history.com/navy/nc4.html Flying boat NC-4 was a subject of a history detectives story www.pbs.org/opb/historydetectives/investigations/506_nc4.... The History detectives video segment describes the difficulty and danger involved in flying these seaplanes across the Atlantic in the teens... amazing.
