"J.P. Roullot" refers to US Army Air Service aviator Lt. John P. Roullot (25 Jan 1894 - 20 July 1922). Roullot would be killed accidentally on July 20, 1922, at the Mitchel Field shooting range as he was being trained to use the Colt M1911 .45 ACP semi-automatic pistol. He was struck in the abdomen by a round accidentally fired from another M1911 pistol assigned to Lt. Robert Purcell. Purcell would later cleared of any charges relating to the accidental discharge and Lt. Roullot's death. See "Obituaries," Army and Navy Journal, July 29, 1922, Volume LIX, No. 48, Page 1180.
