[http://www.flickr.com/photos/51979177@N02] I think you would have been able to see that witch's hat spire, unless blocked by the ASN Co, tower, but it was not yet built. I am thinking about 1890 for the date The GPO tower seems to be see-thru with open staircases, and no 1891 clock. I tried to post a GoogleMapsStreetView for comparison, but it is not currently letting me copy the link. Something to do with my trying the New Google Maps which is nearly as much of a nightmare as the New Flickr, but at least with the option to go back!

I am not sure whether this was taken from Milsons Point or McMahons Point, very close to that 'Leddicott' house. Leaning towards the latter due to the alignment of the terrace in Fort Street (see note).

Second thoughts - this is definitely from Milsons Point, from about where the northern pylon for the Harbour Bridge is now - see the alignment of the pointy bits on the ASNCo building at Circular Quay west - GoogleMapsStreetView - goo.gl/maps/i40Kg

The advert for Anthony Horderns (see note) dates this photo as 1905+.

Sorry, Powerhouse, but you have mapped this photo incorrectly. If it was taken from McMahon's Point, the photo would be the other way around. I think that it was taken from the headland near where Kirribilli House is now.
