I remember reading about how surprised the event organizers were by the youthful appetites of the veterans at one of the reunions (I can't remember if it was the 1913 or 1938 reunion or both), they were good eaters. At one of the events, they drank all the whiskey provided twice over. In a live radio interview from '38, one veteran being questioned went off on the following tangent: (from memory) "I want to talk about women's skirts. They are too short. Why, when I was at the sporting house last week ... " (cut off by interviewer).
