The negative of this underexposed copy photograph is inscribed with Bain's date of November 18, 1913. The original photograph was signed by a New York photographer named Mishkin. In the autumn of 1913, Margaret Wycherly appeared in 80 performances of a drama called "The Fight," at the Hudson Theatre in New York. (The play was written by her husband, Bayard Veiller.) This was July 5, 1915, as part of a 4th of July parade and day of women's suffrage activities. Dressed as the Goddess of Liberty and standing at the foot of the Statue of Liberty, she read the "Appeal for Liberty", written by Carrie Chapman Catt and Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Details at:
