Another photo of Luther Tucker (on a pony) is in The sun., November 05, 1916, SECTION 2 Sporting News, Page 5. According to the caption, he was a grandson of Anthony N. Brady (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_N._Brady) chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83030431/1916-11-05/ed-...

Thanks to both of you for this information. We'll add some of it to the record the next time we update.

The sign on the track indicates this is the judging for Class 30, which at the 1917 Long Branch Horse Show was for "Shetland or Welsh Ponies not exceeding 12.2". Saddle and Horse Show magazine indicates Master Luther Tucker of West End, N.J. competed (unsuccessfully) in that category with the pony Patsy. books.google.com/books?id=lE85AQAAMAAJ&pg=PA156&l...

Photographer's initials (?) and date in upper left corner (reversed): SS 7/31/13

Thanks to technogeo for the date. From the NYT of August 1, 1913: "LONG BRANCH, July 31. It was Governor's Day at the continuation of the Monmouth County Horse Show on the Hollywood Grounds this afternoon and the entry of the Chief Executive of the State, James F. Fielder, could not have been more timely ..." (ref. query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9C00E4DD1730E233A... )

Nice research work, lifeasdaddy! This image is unusual because it shows a group of people from behind. Valuable reference material for anyone into clothing and fashion of this era.

technogeo, you make a good point about the perspective. Like some of the others of the Long Branch Horse show there are taken from well behind the action and what to other photographers would be the main subject. Here for example, the main thing is the central reviewing or judgeing stand and the scoreboard - but they are mere background to the general crowd scene. technogeo and lifeasdaddy: Thanks for the additional information. We'll add it to the description next time we update the record.

You mis-typed again, It's a SHOW not a SHOE.

LOL. But shoe know they was havin fun.

Goes to shoe we need all kinds of help. Thanks for showing the way on this one :-)

Nice shot!
