Federal Reserve Bldg., Manhattan.

    I believe this is actually the back of the Federal Reserve building and that this is Liberty Street (looking east), rather than Maiden Lane. Liberty Street is somewhat higher than Maiden Lane, and the windows are quite close to the street, like we see here, at least on the west end of the building. On Maiden Lane there are at least three rows of stones below the windows.

    They are headed west on Liberty Street, crossing West Street. The pedestrian overpass above led to the ferry to New Jersey, where they were to get trains to Spartanburg, S.C.
    In the background is the Central Railroad Hotel, which was located at West and Liberty.
