Appears to have all its wartime modifications, the larger bridge structure the most obvious. On its post war first visit to New Zealand I'd say.

Trainiac I think you are right, HMS NEW ZEALAND spent some time in Sydney in mid-1919 during a world tour, and that is probably the time that this image was taken.

This will be July 1919 when NEW ZEALAND brought Admiral Lord Jellicoe to Australia in the course of his world tour preparing a report for the British Admiralty on the future of the Dominion Navies [that is, largely whether they should be developed as national navies or enfolded in an Empire defence arrangement as branches of the Royal Navy. A very wise, far-seeing and decent man, Jellicoe recommended the former]. [Please note I am searching for a companion image here where I brain-fadedly identified the Indefatigable Class battlecruiser - with Union Jack on her flagstaff - as sistership HMAS AUSTRALIA I] during the Prince of Wales visit in May 1920. It's not. There were other clear indicators, the presence of newly-arrived submarine J5, to show it was July 1919]. .
