    Well, you can see the airmen posing by their warplanes, and you can see the bombers flying in formation, and you can see them dodging the flak to get to the target, but only photos such as this one make you realize what warfare does to us. Enormous losses of capital investments take place in the blink of an eye. Where do you even begin sorting out a ruin like this one?

    trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/163662868/16780821# - this pic appeared in the Sydney Mail on 4th September, 1907 in a pictorial on the Dorrigo district...see pic on 4th page of link titled 'A Farm of 124 Acres for which in its improved state £2200 was refused'... Some of the other Dorrigo pics that appeared in this issue of the Sydney Mail are also in the PHM's collection, and they're also on the PHM's Flickr photostream...they come up if you click on the 'Sydney Mail, 4th September, 1907' tag I've added...

    Photograph was taken on North Derby Street, with houses on Shore Street behind. (street and houses now gone). The damage was caused by the parachute mine that landed on the corner of North Derby Street and York Road opposite the police station.
