  Harry William "Hal" Krause (July 12, 1888 - October 23, 1940) was a Major League Baseball player. He was a pitcher over parts of five seasons (1908-1912) with the Philadelphia Athletics and Cleveland Naps. He led the American League in earned run average in 1909 while playing for Philadelphia.   I agree with pmcconst. The man at center looks like Harry Houdini and the whole scene looks like a Houdini stunt. He often used locked containers like that mailbag and caged truck, and handcuffs or chains borrowed from police.
