Thanks for the link - this text is especially relevant: "The construction of the current Macquarie Lighthouse was begun in 1881 and the light was first exhibited in 1883...With the commencement of the new light, the lantern was removed from the old tower but the structure itself was not demolished for several years."

Museums of History NSW - State Archives Collection Hmmm, imho no! The date has to be 1883, because "the lantern was removed from the old tower ... " (see quote above). I take this to mean the lamp and the glass windows, otherwise there would be a blind spot due east and confusing reflections from the windows.

Because the people are the same, it implies that the old lantern was demolished when this wonderful photo from the old to the new lighthouse was taken. -

trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/111027035 - Evening News, 30th May, 1883...per this Evening News item, the lantern on the old lighthouse was then being dismantled...so I'd say this SLNSW pic was taken sometime prior to late May 1883... trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/64034631 - Illustrated Sydney News, 9th June, 1883...the illustration that appears here shows the old lighthouse without its lantern... Per the various newspaper reports, the building work on the new lighthouse was completed in April 1883 and the contractor handed the lighthouse over to the Government on 20th April, 1883...but the external work might have been completed before then, so it's difficult to guess at an earliest date...

Between Greenway and Dittisham Street View Greenway is also known as home of Agatha Christie (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenway_Estate)

I visited Dittisham a few days ago.
The houses on the waterfront look much as they did a hundred years ago. There are more houses higher up. This was taken from a boat halfway across the River Dart, not from the Greenway shore.
